with
the arrival
onstage of the veteran Jeremiah Kissel as the ghost of
Hamlet's father,
the focus locks in on terror and awe. Aided by costume
designer Clint
Ramos' stunning, larger-than-life, puppet-style,
blood-drenched field
officer's uniform, and achieving a visceral vocal
intensity I have
never before heard from him, Kissel cranks up the
emotional volume to
the level the production will sustain throughout.
Here, and in his
later cameos as the Player King and the First
Gravedigger, Kissel to my
mind walks away with the acting prize.
